Dirt Road Dogs

Disaster Relief & Rebuilding Fund

On November 3rd, an EF3 tornado tore through Harrah, a small community on the outskirts Oklahoma City. Thankfully, our friends Juliana and Alex — and their dogs — were just barely able to make it to safety in their underground shelter as the twister descended directly on top of their neighborhood. They emerged to find the family-owned doggie daycare and boarding facility they run on their two acre property completely destroyed.

Dirt Road Dogs is nature driven dog care. Campers spend the day running, swimming, digging and playing together in a safe and controlled environment, managed by Jules and Alex and their small team. The facility offers boarding, van transportation to and from home, trail walk adventures, temperament-specific play groups, one-on-one training sessions and, of course, a hose bath before heading home.

Rebuilding The Dream

Over the last two years, the Dirt Road Dogs pack has grown enough that Jules and Alex had recently purchased a nearby nine acres with the intent to relocate operations there. They’ve been constructing expanded facilities and preparing the grounds to welcome even more dogs. With the original location so completely destroyed — including significant damage to their family home — Dirt Road Dogs will be closed until they can get the new location up and running. Will you help us get the DRD puppies back to nature again?

Fundraiser FAQs

  • Check out the Dirt Road Dogs website or find them on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok! Even if you aren’t a pup parent, it’s pretty enjoyable to spend your lunch hour binging daycare shenanigans posted by the camp staff.

  • Check out the Dirt Road Dogs GoFundMe fundraiser for a live tally of donations toward their recovery. All funds from tee shirt sales and voluntary contributions here at shopgoodokc.com will be donated to Dirt Road Dogs via GoFundMe to help them reach their goal. We’ll also post updates on our social media.

  • We were so lucky to find DRD when we were searching for a safe and controlled way to get some puppy play time for our shop dog Howdy (our one year old Great Pyrenees). Howdy heads to camp a couple of times a week for a romp around the woods with her friends, some cuddles with camp staff, and plenty of exercise. Jules spent a couple of training sessions with us to help Howdy (and us) learn how to better greet other dogs on leash, to be more engaged on walks and to have more confidence in her relationships with humans and puppy pals. Her care and commitment made all the difference for our family during Howdy’s first year. Howdy is missing her time out at camp with her besties so much — we can’t wait until she can roll in the grass at the new Dirt Road Dogs soon.
