what else would you do on a monday night?
it’s another LIVE! tonight in the Plaza district, starting at 7p, and this one’s going to sweep you off your feet.
(1) we’ll have all the makings for felt mustaches — so you can try out that super fu manchu or chin curtain you’ve been eyeing on your neighbor with all the rusted out Dodge trucks in his yard. we even have attachment options — you can go straight for the double-sided tape and slap that fuzzy thing directly on your face, or you can choose the more prim and proper route with a mustache-holding stick (aka bamboo skewer). if this little DIY project doesn’t say “classy” to your sweetheart, i don’t know what will.
(2) after you’ve redneck-ed your face, we’ll take pictures of you and your date (or friend, escort, sister, whatever) photobooth-style for FREE! and believe me, as the first mustachio-booth model, even if you didn’t come with a date, you’ll leave with one if you flash these epic photos around.
(3) we’ll have live music from The Grown Ups! these three guys will kick our Valentine’s-Day-themed activities up a notch with a performance at 8p. feel free to bring your dancing shoes. and as always, there’s no cover.
(4) brand new art on the walls from Kyle Taylor. each piece is gorgeous, beautifully framed and one of a kind. don’t say i didn’t warn you if you end up going home with one of them.
don’t forget to grab a last-minute gift for your valentine! she doesn’t have to know that you got it on sale!
so, apparently someone in the neighborhood woke up in the middle of the night with a brilliant burst of creative insight: a new slogan for SHOP GOOD.
mr. urban poet (we imagine him tall, mustachioed and in a yellow beret) was too polite to simply give us a ring or shoot us an email to tell us about this sudden explosion of linguistic insight, so he headed right on down to the store and put in what must have been at least one or two minutes of painstaking work to craft our new public message, right on top of the existing vinyl decal. the message is so deeply philosophical and thought-provoking that it’s over our heads, but if you can figure out what it means, let us know:
thank you, mr. poet, for inspiring us to be more passionate, more generous and more committed in our efforts to help revitalize the Plaza District and her surrounding neighborhoods. you can keep up your efforts, but we’ll always make beauty out of your chaos. we’ll always enjoy creatively cleaning up your messes. we’ll always believe you’ll do the right thing next time. thank you for the reminder this morning that love wins.
if you want to donate to SHOP GOOD’s new sign fund, just leave a comment or swing by the store. we love you, our loyal bloggies.

our online store is up, and it is… wait for it… legendary! we’re adding more product all the time, and have some products that benefit Haiti coming soon.
click here to check out the new store.
we’ve been telling you that the Plaza District is historic, and here’s the proof. this picture, taken in yesteryear, illustrates just how rad the Plaza is! though I wish we still had the Pabst New Method Casino Bar!
SHOP GOOD is down on the right, near the white delivery truck. hopefully the khaki man with the cool hat will stop by, that would make our day.
sorry, Kermit, but these days, being eco-friendly and people-conscious is getting easier and easier. take a look at some of the ways (other than shopping at SHOP GOOD, of course) that you can make your everyday purchases say “i love you” to the planet and humanity at large.
shopping meets the circle of life. at recycleatee.com, you can not only buy yourself a sweet new reasonably-priced organic cotton tee shirt (printed with environmentally friendly dyes, of course), but you can give it back, too. when that v-neck with the cute owl on the pocket goes out of style or just won’t make it through one more load of laundry, you can recycle it by sending it back (with free shipping!) or donating it to Goodwill. either way, recycleatee.com will give you 25% off your next purchase. recycling + generosity = the ultimate two birds with one stone.
attention oenophiles! what do you get when you combine a state-of-the-art winery, a former Microsoft executive and the networking power of Twitter? schools, libraries and literacy for third-world kids through the global nonprofit Room to Read! that’s right, you heard me, you can give kids the ability to read, simply by purchasing a $20 bottle of wine. Fledgling wine + generosity = a pretty affordable Superman complex.
all of us like to look smart. i can pretty much guarantee at least a slight rise in IQ-public-perception immediately after subscribing to a magazine designed “for people who want to do well by doing good.” the little elves at Good magazine work hard to creatively “engage and challenge the people, ideas and institutions driving change in the world.” after browsing through the latest issue, you’ll feel informed, inspired and, yep, you guessed it, generous. Good donates 100% of your $20 subscription fee to a charity of your choosing. (i chose to fight malaria, aka death by mosquito bite.) increased nerd appeal + generosity = more educated, effective do-gooding.
it hasn’t been this cold in OKC for a long time! and of course tonight is Live on the Plaza. who wants to walk around outside tonight?
SHOP GOOD would like to give you some incentive to get out in the cold. we will be having a sale on Wandering Wear tees tonight only. come in between 7pm and 11pm and get any regular priced Wandering Wear tee for 50% off! that’s $10! the savings are ridiculous! (one shirt per person. more than that would be more ridiculous than we can handle.)
here’s the catch. this sale won’t be posted in the store. the only place to find out about this sale is right here on our blog. and the only way to take advantage of this insane deal is to tell us the super secret password.
ready?
pick out your Wandering Wear tee, bring it to the check-out desk and say “good gravy it’s cold out!!!!” and boom (goes the dynamite) 50% off!
13 degrees doesn’t seem that cold anymore does it? see you tonight!

thanks to all of you who have made this holiday season at SHOP GOOD such a lovely one! it’s been a blast to open early and stay late to help you find the perfect last-minute gifts for your hard-to-shop-for mother-in-law, your favorite brother and your crazy uncle.
just a reminder, SHOP GOOD will be closed for a few days, starting mid-afternoon today, so that we can take a little holiday breather and spend some time with our families. we’ll keep you updated about plans to reopen next week and we’ll be available to open by appointment, so keep in touch with us — either here on the blog or on our facebook page.
